Join us on the third Thursday of each month for a presentation on disaster and emergency preparedness hosted by Jefferson County’s Department of Emergency Management (DEM). Each session will focus on a different preparedness topic and provide essential tips and steps to prepare for various emergencies, including winter storms, earthquakes, and tsunamis.
In February's session, NPREPs Elizabeth Bindschadler and Dick Illman will talk about preparing your household to handle emergencies. Do you have a family reunification plan in a local disaster? How will you communicate with loved ones? Are you prepared to shelter in your home for an extended period? What supplies should you have on hand? When should you evacuate instead?
Dick Illman retired from a 40-year technical career with Motorola, a 10-year Jefferson resident, the President of the Jefferson County Amateur Radio Club, and the Jefferson County ARES Emergency Coordinator
Elizabeth Bindschadler has volunteered with the Neighborhood Preparedness (NPREP) team for 10 years. She has focused on providing preparedness information and training to individuals and neighborhood organizers. Prior experience includes being a Girl Scout and Cub Scout/Boy Scout leader, and a 32-year civilian career with the U.S. Department of Defense.
