Join us every third Thursday* of the month for an informative presentation on disaster and emergency preparedness. Each session will focus on a different topic and outline steps to prepare for various emergencies, including winter storms, earthquakes, and wildfires. (*The June presentation is scheduled for Tuesday, June 17, to accommodate the Juneteenth holiday.)
As the risk of wildfires increases in Jefferson County, East Jefferson Fire Rescue (EJFR) has expanded its campaign to provide residents with wildfire prevention information. Join Community Risk Manager Robert Wittenberg to examine how wildfires move and grow and learn how building zones of defensible space around your home can mitigate the impact of wildfires on your property.
Robert Wittenberg is the Community Risk Manager for East Jefferson Fire Rescue, overseeing fire prevention and community risk programming for the district. He is also a board member of the Washington Public Fire Educators. He has been in the fire service since 2012 as a volunteer Firefighter/EMT, Fire Inspector, Fire Investigator, and Public Information Officer. He and his wife live in Port Townsend.
These presentations are a collaborative effort among organizations that support emergency preparedness and response in Jefferson County. Throughout the year, you will hear from Neighborhood Preparedness (NPREP), Volunteer Emergency Communications (VECOM), the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), the Medical Reserve Corps (MRC), the Department of Emergency Management (DEM), and more.
