March 28 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Great Decisions, produced by the Foreign Policy Association (FPA), is America’s largest civic discussion program on world affairs. Lectures will run weekly each Thursday from March 28 – May 16. Each discussion will cover a topic of great importance to Americans, a short video will be shown, and discussion of American policy will be facilitated. Attend the entire series of lectures or one lecture; no previous registration is required, and seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis. The program series is co-sponsored by Quimper Unitarian Universalist Fellowship’s Adult Learning Program.

This week we’ll discuss open borders. Every state in today’s global system has its own laws and policies about who is permitted to cross its borders, and how they will do so. Who determines whether someone is a refugee or a migrant? How have different countries, including the United States, reacted to migration? How effective are the international laws, policies and organizations that have evolved to assist and protect refugees and migrants?
