Great Decisions, produced by the Foreign Policy Association (FPA), is America’s largest civic discussion program on world affairs. Lectures will run weekly each Thursday from March 28 – May 16. Each discussion will cover a topic of great importance to Americans, a short video will be shown, and discussion of American policy will be facilitated. Attend the entire series of lectures or one lecture; no previous registration is required, and seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis. The program series is co-sponsored by Quimper Unitarian Universalist Fellowship’s Adult Learning Program.
Though arguably the most advanced economy in the world, the United States still uses centuries-old numbers to measure trade. These antique numbers mangle understanding of the U.S.-China trade relationship, shrinking America’s true economic size and competitiveness, while swelling China’s. Bad numbers give rise to bad policies that ultimately kill U.S. jobs and cede market share to China. What other tools can the United States employ to counter China’s unfair trade practices? There are several available, yet they remain mostly unused.
