Community Art: : Wycinanki – Polish Folk Art
January 12, 2019 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Join us this month to create paper cutouts called wycinanki (vĭ-chee non-key) which originated in 19th century Poland. Each spring people whitewashed the walls of their house and decorated them with these colorful cutouts that, when unfolded, make an intricate repeated pattern.
Community Art is a monthly program for everyone, whatever your level of art experience. Each session starts with a short talk and demonstration of the project, followed by hands on creative work. Bring your families or come by yourself, invite an elder, join as a couple, or bring a pack of friends! Explore a diverse lineup of art projects using quality materials, and facilitated by professional art educator Sidonie Maroon. All materials are provided. Space is limited, so sign up at the library or call 385-6544 to register.
